Unibol S.A.S manufactures paper from 100% recycled fibers, which greatly contributes to the preservation of forests by preventing the felling of trees and increasing the useful life of landfills, preventing recoverable materials such as cardboard and paper from being deposited there unnecessarily.
In addition, the company has water recovery and recirculation systems, cogeneration of 100% of its required energy, taking advantage of the hot gases generated to produce 40% of its steam demand for paper drying.
For the treatment of its wastewater, Unibol has an MBR (Membrane Bio Reactor) type plant, which guarantees to far exceed the permissible limits required by law in the discharged water.
For the production of our products, we recycle paper responsibly —following each step with technical and environmental rigor— which brings multiple key advantages, both for the planet and for the economy and society, in this way we contribute excellence and sustainability:
Reduction of deforestation
By reusing paper fibers, the need to cut down trees is reduced, protecting natural forests and vital ecosystems.
Each ton of recycled paper can save between 15 and 20 mature trees.
Saving water and energy
Recycling uses up to 60% less energy and about 80% less water compared to producing new paper from virgin pulp.
Reduction of waste in landfills
Recycling paper reduces the volume of solid waste, relieving pressure on landfills and reducing the emission of gases such as methane.
Lower carbon footprint
By avoiding the incineration or decomposition of paper, fewer greenhouse gases are emitted.
In addition, the consumption of fossil fuels in industrial processes is reduced.
Conservation of air and water quality
Recycling plants, if well managed, generate less air and water pollution than factories that work only with virgin fiber.
Boost to the circular economy
A sustainable value chain is created where waste becomes resources.
It promotes the generation of employment in the collection, selection, transport, processing and commercialization of recycled products.
Environmental awareness and social responsibility Encourages a culture of conscious consumption, waste separation and commitment to the environment in companies, schools and communities. In short, recycling paper responsibly is not only about recovering material, but about caring for natural resources, reducing environmental impact and promoting a more sustainable and humane economy.
